What We See in the Sky

When we look into the night sky we see light arriving from galaxies that are far away. This light is made of waves, just like the waves of sound that reach our ears and the waves of water that reach our shores. Sometimes waves are squeezed closer together and sometimes they are stretched farther apart. The light from distant galaxies is stretched out. This stretching makes the light shift toward the red side of the rainbow. Scientists call this redshift.

The meaning of redshift is simple. The galaxies that sent the light are in motion. They are moving away from us in space. When a train blows its whistle while moving away from us, the sound becomes lower and deeper as it drops in pitch. When a galaxy moves away from us, the light drops in frequency and shifts toward red. This is the whole truth of the observation.

The experts claim that this stretching of light proves that space itself is expanding. They claim that emptiness is swelling like a fabric that grows larger every second. They tell us that the galaxies are not only moving but are being carried on a swelling emptiness. This is what the experts say, yet no one has ever observed space expanding. 

The real observation is motion. Light arrives stretched and this tells us that galaxies are moving. The claim that space itself expands is not an observation but a story. Emptiness cannot swell or bend because emptiness is nothing. Nothing does not change. The only thing proven by redshift is motion. The rest is fantasy.
